June 24 2014

Today was a weird day but it was successful. I finished a book I WAS reading and caught up on my AP Literature homework I have for the summer. The book we are reading is Things Fall apart by Chinua Achebe. I'm seven chapters in and I'm not enjoying it. I feel as if the plot hasn't developed as much as I want it to. Hopefully,  this book becomes more interesting soon.
As for my work on Die Schöne Müllerin. None so far this week😓. To be honest I haven't actually studied in a few weeks. I have no excuse why I'm so behind and not productive. Except that there are not enough hours in the day. Tomorrow I will make it a goal to practice Des Müllers Blumen and review Morgengrus, Ungeduld and Der Neugierige.

ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:
I sung a high B and a soprano high C today. It just reminded of the days before my voice started to change. A time when I thought the passagio was a myth  and I could sing C's and D's anytime and anywhere. A time when warm-ups didn't seem necessary to me.
When I look back during that time I realize that I don't want to go back there. I'm a better singer now even though it's harder, Im getting a better product😆😁

Summer Session

Since I am on summer break and I have much more time on my hands I will be trying to post more often. This year has been a real struggle. Balancing my music and school wasn't very successful and I'm falling even more behind on Die Schöne Müllerin and other projects. With all of this free time on my hands I'm going to try to spend almost all of my time on my music. YAY!  I love singing and studying my music but the first step is the hardest when I try to practice.😞
On the 30th of June the YMCO Summer Session begins. That means from 8 to 5 it's Music, Music,Music. Which is Great!😆😆 I really cannot wait! I'm excited to learn and spend time with my YMCO friends who understand Music like me.  What I'm most excited for is our Opera Musical Theatre class. All of the singers in our program spend an hour and a half together singing and learning music. Out of the three summers I've attended this summer has the most music we have to learn. We're going to  learn scenes from Don Giovanni, Carmen, West Side story and The Secret Garden. So much More. I'm So excited!
